Plain Facts About This Service

Nobody from this site will walk your roof, price your job or ask you to sign a contract. Those steps belong to the independent roofer who receives your request. This is a free referral service, not a contractor, and it has no hand in insurance claims.

The money works one way only. The roofing company pays this site a fee for each referral it receives. You never pay us, and you never get money or anything else of value from us.

How a Request Moves

  1. You reach out. Use the form or call (412) 555-0189 with your address, a few words about the roof and a good time to talk.
  2. We pass it on. Your request goes to one independent roofer who works in your part of Allegheny County or nearby. It goes nowhere else.
  3. The roofer visits. The roofer contacts you, inspects the roof and writes an estimate. Many roofers give estimates at no charge; ask the roofer when you speak.
  4. You decide. Any contract is between you and the roofer. You're free to ask questions, get other estimates or simply say no.

What to Ask the Roofer

Pennsylvania has no state roofing license, so the checks below are yours to make. We don't vouch for any roofer's work.

  • Its Pennsylvania registration. Contractors doing $5,000 or more of home improvement a year must register with the Attorney General. The number starts with "PA"; check it at hicsearch.attorneygeneral.gov.
  • Insurance in writing. State law sets liability minimums of $50,000 each for personal injury and property damage, and the contract must state the amounts. Ask about workers' comp too.
  • A signed contract. Jobs over $500 need a written contract listing the registration number, total price, start and finish dates, and the work and materials.
  • Warranties on paper. Ask for the manufacturer and labor warranties in writing, and who registers the manufacturer warranty.
  • Who pulls the permit. Each municipality sets its own rules. In the City, PLI handles roofing permits, and historic-district homes need review first. An HOA may need to sign off too.
  • Sensible payment terms. Nothing is owed before signing, and on a contract over $5,000 the deposit can't exceed one-third of the price. Be wary of cash-only or full-upfront demands.
  • The details under the shingles. Ask about ice-and-water shield at the eaves and how the attic will be ventilated.

Where This Service Stops

This site never offers to cover, waive or reduce an insurance deductible, and it never files, negotiates or manages a claim. A roofer can record the damage and write an estimate; the claim stays between you and your insurer, or a licensed public adjuster or attorney you choose. You pay your own deductible.

We never name or rate the roofer, never give homeowners anything of value and have no tie to any city, county or state office. For the legal details, see the Pennsylvania roofing rules page.
